About

My name is Timiyah Harrison, a second-year education major attending UNCG who is passionate about service, leadership, and being a positive role model in my community. I enjoy organizing and participating in volunteer initiatives that support individuals and families in need, especially through donation drives and community-based outreach.

I have independently planned and led multiple fundraisers, including month-long donation drives supporting domestic violence survivors and individuals experiencing homelessness. Through these experiences, I have developed strong skills in organization, communication, and leadership while working collaboratively with volunteers and local organizations.

I believe in giving back, leading by example, and creating meaningful impact through

    Timiyah @ UNCG Garden Club

On Friday March 27th, I volunteered at the Garden Club here at UNCG. I spent time lawnmowing, weed eating, and watering the compounds. It was my first time ever gardening and was such a fun experience!

    MLK Day of Service 2026

For my MLK Day of Service, I volunteered at Peacehaven Farm in Greensboro, North Carolina, an organization that supports adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities through inclusive farming and community engagement. Participating in this service opportunity allowed me to reflect on Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.’s message about service, equality, and caring for others.

Working at Peacehaven Farm showed me the importance of creating inclusive spaces where everyone is valued and supported. The experience reminded me that service is not just about helping, but also about learning, listening, and building meaningful connections within the community. As an education major, this opportunity reinforced my desire to be a positive role model and to support environments that promote dignity, respect, and growth for all individuals.

This experience strengthened my commitment to community involvement and reminded me that even small acts of service can have a lasting impact.

    Timiyah @ Thanksgiving 2024 Fundraiser

During November 2024, I independently organized a month-long canned food donation drive to support a homeless shelter in Rocky Mount, North Carolina. The purpose of this fundraiser was to collect non-perishable food items to help individuals and families experiencing food insecurity during the Thanksgiving season.

I planned and managed the fundraiser from start to finish, including organizing the donation drive, promoting the cause, collecting and sorting canned food items, and coordinating the final donation. The collected food was donated to the local homeless shelter to support meal preparation and food distribution during Thanksgiving.

This event focused on addressing hunger in the community while encouraging charitable giving and awareness during the holiday season.
