At YELLS I assisted the instructors with helping during homework time and their reading lesson. This week's focus was the power of "yet." The power of "yet" allows the students to continue to have motivation when they are unable to complete an activity. For example, instead of saying "I can't ride a bike," they should say "I can't ride a bike, yet." Also, during their reading lesson, the students completed vision boards for themselves filled with their favorite things and words of affirmation.

At YELLS I assisted the instructors with helping students with their homework and during their reading lesson. During circle share, the students this week had been talking about the importance of not giving up when things get difficult.
Attending the YELLS ASP program at Fair Oaks consisted of me following the students to their different rotations along with their educators. These rotations included snack time with a choice activity, homework, reading lesson, REC, and a sports activity. This day's activity included soccer. Two soccer coaches were present and educated the students and me about the soccer basics.
I attended the Fair Oaks YELLS location as an ASP volunteer. This day was the very first day of the YELLS ASP program at this elementary school. I helped by setting up decorations for the students who attended and passed out snacks. I also followed along with the different rotations and learned what is to be expected from each rotation.
I attended the YELLS after-school program at Franklin Gateway and assisted as a homework helper. This day, the students were showcasing Black History Month projects they had made to their parents. There was also a guest speaker in attendance, who has been previously affiliated with the YELLS program.
