My mentee and I spent time together this week by first stopping at Sonic and then heading over to Walmart. As we walked around, we socialized and caught up on our weeks, and she shared her Thanksgiving experiences and her plans for Christmas. It was a relaxed, fun outing, and we really enjoyed the time together.
My mentee and I had a great time together this week. We grabbed drinks at Sonic and spent some time catching up about how our weeks had been going. Afterward, we headed to Target to look at all the Christmas items they already had on display. It was a fun, and gave us a chance to enjoy the start of the holidays
This week, my mentee and I went to Sonic again and decided to try their new caramel snack, which pushed both of us a little out of our comfort zones. After that, we headed to Walmart just as they were starting to set up for Christmas. We roamed around the aisles, looking at the decorations and talking about what each of us hopes to get for Christmas this year.
My mentee and I met up again this week and went to Sonic before heading over to Walmart. While we were there, we browsed through the Arkansas merch and checked out some of our favorite snacks. As we walked around, we caught up on our weeks and talked about everything that had been going on.
Today my mentee and I decided to enjoy the nice weather. We first decided to go to sonic, and then I brought some markers and coloring pages and we went to Wilson park to color. We talked about our weeks, I asked her questions about herself, and we colored. We both enjoyed some outdoor time and the nice weather.
This week my mentee and I did have to reschedule, but we were able to find a time that worked with both of us. She did really good handling the change, as it did not bother her at all. We had our weekly sonic run and talked about how our weeks went. We then went to Walmart, as she had a gift card to use. When checking out at Walmart we had a small obstacle of her gift card not working. She exemplified independence when talking to an employee about her gift card. She was a little confused when the employee redirected us to the customer service desk, but after I gave her some clarification, she understood. We had a really good time!
My Mentee and I had an adventurous time today considering a small rainstorm during our time together. We had our weekly sonic run, where this time we tried a new snack that came out. During our sonic run, the rainstorm started. At first, my mentee was worried about the rain, but after reassurance we did good. We had a fun Target run, looking at the clothes and snacks (specifically the cheese). She did really good with the rain and being not prepared, but we worked with what we had and did good.
During my time with my mentee, we went and played with the dogs at PetLand, went to sonic, and then went to Target. We had a great time together, and worked on social skills. Within our time, we came into some obstacles at PetLand, not being able to see more dogs due to them needing to eat. Overcoming this obstacle was very smooth, as we decided instead to go to Sonic, and then go to Target. I really enjoyed our first meeting and getting to know my Mentee.
