I was able to wrap up the semester with WiCyS, I had so much fun we played games and ate good food. I was also able to know more about WiCyS, and how they are a national organization. Overall it was a great experience.

These games brought me back to when I was in high school and used to play softball. It's amazing to see teamwork in action. And while our school didn’t win either of the two games today, I really enjoyed it.
It was fun watching this game, it was a bit sunny but overall good.
This event was so fun, we had games and other activities. Something funny that happened was at the end when they were doing the raffle there were two Julissas so I had to explain how they were two completely different persons (I didn't win anything :( ).
I helped organize and clean storage containers so they could be refilled with nonperishable food items. It was a simple but meaningful way to give back. What surprised me most was learning that the organization doesn’t get government funding, they rely completely on donations. That made me realize how important community support really is. I'm grateful I got to contribute to their mission.
In this session the scholarship team talked about the requirements to maintain the scholarship as well as some new changes they're gonna make to ensure students are able to complete their engagement hours. One highlight was the mini sessions we are going to have five in total and the topics are going to be Transfer, Academic Health, Financial Literacy, and Personal Enrichment. All of which sound very interesting and Im excited to participate in this sessions.
After this meeting I had a clear understanding of what to expect next semester.
It was a very informative session, it is surprising how a small nasal spray with Naloxone can save someone's life. I left with information that will be useful in case of an emergency. Ashely and her team did an amazing job in presenting this information and spreading awareness.
This was a community project I created, it aimed to support undocumented high schoolers in understanding what the Maryland dream act was and how to apply to MSFAA. This was an extensive process where my team and I had to do in depth research, as well as designing the actual booklet. We were able to share it to my high school peerforward advisor-who also shared it with other peerforward advisors in the district, helping its reach and impact. Since this was part of a course, I was also assigned to do a project report (I am happy to share it if needed), this allowed us to identify the actual impact we had in the community. Creating this community project took us more than 10 hours, but since I don’t have an exactly number, I’ll leave it at 5hours.
Attached are the booklets, one in Spanish and the other one in English.
I think it was a great session, I really liked our guest Ashanti Martinez which is one of our state delegate. He gave a little of his background and he also let us ask him questions about some concerns we had. Overall a great experience and I would love to have more sessions similar to this.
