Today was a mentor training session, which is always stress-free and contains good communication. I feel like an important part of becoming a better mentor will be growing with my other mentors, and as we speak more I feel like we stimulate mutual improvement.
First hang time back from winter break! Sadly, Eleazor was not with us, but the other mentors let me help and it was an overall good learning experience on how to create connections.
This was our hang time between the second and third times with the kids. The meetings are starting to become a lot more applicable to the meetings, and I feel like each of the mentors are growing with each hang-time!
On Monday, we went back to the school for the second time and we were assigned our mentors and mentees. Once we were assigned, we did multiple activities with the kids to get to know them better.
We had a very fun time with the kids. We did not assign any "Bigs" or "Littles" but all the kids seem to be very fun and energetic for sure. We played games with them and then ate together, and I definitely was the first step in creating a special connection.
We had a really fun time teaching the kids how to do their homework, and then bonded over snacks and games as they waited for their parents to pick them up.
We talked about how we are going to engage with are mentees and the type of games we will be playing.
From what I can tell, great group of guys that are committed to having a positive impact through the mission of Be B.O.L.D. I love the idea that these guys are coming together to be apart of something bigger than ourselves.
