We another great involvement with the Adopt a Floor Program at the Holtz Children's Hospital. We were able to visit over 30 children at the hospital while delivering them little Valentine's themed goodie bags and grams. I am happy to be part of an organization that helps create opportunities for the benefit of our community.

The good mentioned above were purchased to put together 40 Valentines goodie bags to take to the children at the hospital. Along with the goodie bags were 36 cards to be delivered with Valentines themed grams.
I had a great time participating in the MLK day of Service with FIU. Our service took place at Lotus House, a shelter for women in need. During my time there I helped to set up the village market, which helps to collect funds to give back to the women in the shelter. I also helped to clean the children's' play room and toys. It was great to have been part of this and be of assistance to our local community.
Through Operation Christmas Child I was able to participate in preparing a Christmas box that included several items for a child in need. These boxes are delivered across the world to under privileged kids who sometimes don not have basic needs. Included in this box were items such as new pairs of socks, panties, a notebook, pencils, scrunchies, stickers, and a manicure set for fun. This was my first time participating in this event and I absolutely enjoyed preparing a gift for others. It helped me to develop appreciation and awareness for others during this holiday season.
During this hospital visit we (FIU PBL Chapter) were able to visit 3 floors of the Holtz Children's hospital. With the help and coordination of a hospital staff member we went around distributing candy, coloring books, get well cards, and warm hugs from Roary the panther. Many staff members and parents shared their gratitude for our visit.
Treats for Tots was a great way to contribute to our local community. In preparation for our annual hospital visit we collected donations of candy and coloring books to deliver to the children. I myself donated several brand new coloring books that were given to children who could not accept candy due to dietary conditions or because they did not celebrate Halloween. I also brought handmade cards that contain positive and encouraging messages for the children. I was glad to be able to contribute into making a child's day brighter. Looking forward to contribute more to out treats for tots program in the future.
This month I collected three full bags of clothing in good condition and donated it to the Lauren Kids Organization through one of their collection bins. This has helped me to develop awareness of child abuse that happens to one in every three children before they reach the age of 18. This donation has also helped me to realize that there are items that other people can use, and so I always encourage other to also donate and recycle their clothing.
I think this event was a great opportunity to really appreciate our natural environments here in South Florida. We helped to pick up garbage that had been littered or left behind. This kind of leftover can be harmful to local animals like raccoons, iguanas, seagulls, among others.
As V.P. of Community service for the FIU-PBL chapter I had the opportunity of leading and executing a toy drive where we collected toys for children who were hospitalized during the holiday season. We focused on toy items for the age group of 6 to 12. The collection took place during the entire month of November up to December. In our efforts to collect toys we informed of the collection to our alumni network, chapter members, friends and family members. We also made sure to notify through social media platforms. In the end we collected over 40 brand new toys all of which were donated to the Holtz Children's Hospital (Jackson Hospital). We also partnered with the FIU spirit program and had our mascot Roary the Panther come and deliver the toys with us at the hospital site.
