Prior to this service activity I have always known about the down syndrome association of south Texas because I have a family member who has down syndrome. I specifically chose to volunteer because it hits near and dear to my heart. Each year the association has a fundraising event walk, to raise funds. So, this time I was able to serve my community by giving my time to support this walk. While being there they had an event family fun day, so I got to meet some of the children with special needs and their families. It warmed my heart! I was happy to do it and now I'd like to sign up for more volunteering events for the down syndrome association of south Texas.
