In the "AA vs. AS vs. AAS Degrees" mini session, I learned about the A.A., A.S., and A.A.S. degrees and gained insight into which degree to pursue based on your educational and career goals. This mini session was the first time heard about an A.A.S. degree and I learned that this degree helps prepare students to directly enter the workforce through hands-on training.
I attended the "SGA Town Hall and Q&A with the President" virtually through zoom. I learned what the owl alert is, and that this month is SEAL's new club development month.
I attended the Office of Career Development and Internships’ “Soft Skills to Get and Keep a Job” virtual workshop. In this workshop, I learned about different soft skills that are important to have in the workplace. We watched several videos about behaviors in the workplace and talked about how the videos showed how to or how not to act in a professional environment.
In the STRIVE Power Circle, we discussed the pressure of feeling like we have to have everything figured out. Two of the things we talked about specifically were who or what that pressure comes from and possible solutions for dealing with it.
I attended the Office of Career Development and Internships’ “Build Your Resume with Little to No Experience” virtual workshop. I learned what to include on a resume and how to properly format it.
In this session, I learned how to navigate GivePulse. I also learned how to add and fill out an impact. One thing I found out by attending the session that was helpful was how to fill out an impact for a group that is not on GivePulse.
I attended the “How to Use Owl Careers” workshop hosted by the Office of Career Development and Internships. The event walked us through how to navigate Owl Careers and use the platform effectively. I learned more about what Owl Careers is and the resources and opportunities it provides, such as work experience opportunities, job fairs, and internships.
The promise scholarship Launch orientation was very informative, helpful, and fun. I was able to learn what requirements I needed to meet to keep my scholarship and get any questions I had regarding the scholarship answered.
