Today was a bit more all over the place, but nore organized in a way! I was laminating papers at first, which wasn't too hard. I then ended up working in the clothes closet, which was nice! It was quiet since after the other 2 people left, it was just me in there. It was a nice time to think as I folded clothes. I also checked to see if the clothes were summer or winter clothes, and put the summer clothes in another pile. Then I went and put them in a huge red bin that had other stuff they were recycling.
Most of the shift was looking through the boxes and finding what items should be recycled and what should have been kept at the community center. After that I sorted a few bags of laundry and added some plastics bags to the clothes closet. Some time was spent moving donated food items to their proper places in the food pantry. Something that really made me thing was that the community center got so much clothing donated to it that some of it needed to be sent to other community centers to help them out, it sort of made me really that the world maybe isn't so bad if there an excess of generous people donating clothes to the community center.
I think it addee my hours twice? Well, either way,
I went in today and I was directed towards the computers which was a surprise to me! But they needed help with their paperwork, so I had it explained to me, and that's what I did today. It was kinda stressful, because I wasn't sure if I was doing it right, but the guy helping me was super nice! And while I was waiting on him at some point, I started talking to an old man that was waiting nearby, and he told me about how he had been flooded out of his home, and that's why he was here. We talked about hospitals we were born at, how old buildings are being torn down, how people and things are different now then they were, and about pollution and the environment. It was busy for a conversation that lasted about 5 minutes, but it was a fun one to have.
