I always love volunteering in this way! The weather was a little weird and it was very damp but that’s okay!!
Litter is something I notice a lot while on campus, and being able to pick some of it up felt really rewarding. I grew up in Fayetteville and have always appreciated its natural beauty. I have watched the town grow extensively, as well as the litter. It is something that makes me very sad, so I am glad that I was able to make a small difference today. I definitely think I will do this again at some point. Also, something I noticed was the lack of trash cans in this area. There is a picnic table and a trail that people utilize daily, so trash is destined to accumulate here. The main cause of littering is laziness, so maybe if there were more trash cans in this area, the litter would be less of a problem.
A truly fulfilling experience, helping the environment in a way so simple yet efficient felt truly impactful. There was more trash than expected, but nothing too excessive. The way this impact works around students schedules will definitely lead me to participating again.
