This was a fun and lively even helping kids make creative spin art.
I learned about how involved an entire neighborhood can get to create such a big event. I learned the value of making sure that all the vendors are happy and well hydrated. I learned to handle pressure. I also helped out getting musicians packed and unpacked for their performances so I learned the value of organization since individuals in bands had their own individual equipment.
Honestly the best experience I have ever had volunteering. I am so glad that I did and I met such amazing people.
It was a community event that had many different booths set up. The booth I worked for was a raffle and silent auction booth. The money that was raised there goes towards the park and a theater class.
This is the organization I thought about when John discussed serving for something you really care for. Austin Creative Reuse involves two of my biggest passions: art, and earth and sustainability. Today, we made artwork with children out of recycled vinyl and splatter paint. It is fun to see what you can do with things lying around before recycling them, as it is better for the environment.
