“Know Before You Go”
Before you head out, please keep the following in mind:
- Be aware that toxic algae blooms can occur in Lady Bird Lake. Whenever you're around natural bodies of water, remain vigilant.
- Recognize that zebra mussels are invasive and widespread in Texas waterways. Let us know if you see any zebra mussels during your volunteer activity.
- Be able to identify poison ivy, oak, and sumac; identifying these plants is essential for a safe cleanup.
- Hydrate and take precautions to prevent heat-related illnesses. Consult this guide for tips on recognizing and addressing heat-related issues
- Per Texas State Law, life vests are required for everyone and must be worn at all times for anyone 13 years and younger. For more information please visit the Texas Parks and Wildlife page on life jackets.
If you are no longer able to attend, please cancel your shift at your earliest convenience to re-open those spots for registration.
Thanks again for being involved in making Austin such a unique and beautiful place to live and experience! See you on the lake!
