About
The ECU Sustainability Program is partnering with Her+ Public Health for a service project. We'll be meeting near the Blount Recreational Fields at the Belk Complex off Charles Blvd. from 1-3pm on Friday, November 21. Volunteers will help plant Iris seeds into starter pots so the plants can begin to grow through the winter then get transplanted around Lake Laupus in April 2026.
Transportation Options: take the bus from Main Campus to the Belk Building then walk a few minutes to get to the service project site OR drive to the Belk Complex and park in the Commuter Lot with an A, B, or C parking permit.
The purpose of planting the Iris seeds then transplanting the starter plants is to beautify Lake Laupus on the Health Sciences Campus as well as establish vegetation around the perimeter of the lake to prevent erosion and discourage waterfowl from living on and around the lake year-round, which is causing multiple health issues for the ducks and geese.
