About

NOTE: This event is already full with a waitlist of over 20.

Honor this Earth Day with a day of service & exploration at the beach!

This Spring, join fellow PSU students and connect to the outdoors through a full-day field trip to the Oregon Coast. After a bus ride out to Lincoln City, we will start the day with a microplastics beach clean-up service project with our partner, SOLVE, break for lunch (provided!) and then enjoy an afternoon with optional activities -- nature walk, beach hang, or Lincoln City exploration.

Free lunch will be provided.

The bus will depart from PSU in the morning to bring students out to Lincoln City, about two hours from campus. You'll get a chance to learn a little about where we're headed while on the bus.

The bus will depart to return to Portland around 3pm, returning to campus between 5 and 5:30pm.

What to Bring/Wear: Be prepared by dressing for any weather and wearing sturdy shoes. Bring your own water bottle. And if you can, feel free to bring your own gloves -- and, optionally, a sieve or colander, to help sift the sand for microplastics harmful to marine life and shorebirds!

Note: Please remember our ocean shores can be dangerous. Avoid logs in the water and marine mammals, and never turn your back on the ocean!

Accessibility: Many areas of the beach may not be easily accessible for folks with mobility concerns.

PSU's Earth Day at the Beach is coordinated by the Student Community Engagement Center and the Student Sustainability Center, in collaboration with the Outdoor Program. Please contact us at volunteer@pdx.edu if you have any questions.

About our community partners:
