During my experience at volunteering for the PGCC Men’s Basketball vs Middlesex College I was able to focus on how the basketball players bodies maneuvered around the court. I managed the biological side of their performance and how sweating helped their individual bodies maintain homeostasis. I had to chance to speak with one of the players and they informed me on how they stayed hydrates and recover after the games.

At the Native Garden Plating volunteer event I was able to plant native flowers and also learn about their history and how their presence is good for the economy. This relates to biology because the native plants creates habitats and supports biodiversity for wildlife. Through this event I also learned the proper way to garden and educated myself more on urban farms.
At the Fall Garlic planting event I was able to do hands on learning and planting of garlic cloves with other Howard University student volunteers. I learned how to separate the cloves by hand and how deep to plant them one by one. This event also helped contribute to my teamwork skills allowing to have to meet others and work with them in order to get the process done. Lastly, this event helped further my knowledge on sustainable gardening projects and and how they play a big part in community.
