Shift Details
| Shift Name | Spore Dispersal! Shift 2 |
|---|---|
| Description | This volunteer will lead an interactive exhibit guiding guests of all ages in understanding the life cycle of spore-bearing plants. This station will require the volunteer to oversee the display, provide interpretation on fern life cycles, and draw folks into a bubble activity. All necessary information will be provide on the table and reviewed in the volunteer orientation. The learning objective here is that folks should be able to describe how spores disperse. By using a dyed bubble solution to blow bubbles onto a blank canvas, folks can see on a macroscopic scale an approximation of the natural spread and distribution of spores. Volunteers should be comfortable interacting with folks of all ages. Wear comfortable clothes - dinosaur themed apparel welcome. Meet at the front of the Hartman Prehistoric Garden at the beginning of your shift for the Volunteer Orientation. Parking: Please park in the Stratford Lot at 2300 Stratford Drive, Austin, TX. You can enter through the Botanical Gates of Paradise and be conveniently at the Prehistoric Garden. |
